Healthy Recovery Smoothie Recipe

I have created this recovery smoothie I drink after each workout and it is so nutritious and delicious I thought I'd share the recipe with you guys.


My purpose for this awesome and delicious shake is to aid in recovery after a workout and provide a carb reload to replenish muscle glycogen stores that get depleted during high intensity excersise.


1. Begin with 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk

2. add 1 cup of fresh Kale

3. add about 8 blueberries

4. add about 6 ounces of Fage 2% plain greek yogurt

5. add about 2 table spoons of organic Almond Butter (I prefer Good and Gather as it contains simply roasted almonds and salt)

6. add 1 Table spoon of honey

7. add 1 scoop of protein powder of your choice (I prefer the Muscle Milk vanilla creme flavored protein mix just because out of all the powders I've used over the years this is the one I like best).


Using the pulse setting on the blender, blend for about 30 seconds and enjoy.

So there you have it. A great 550 or so calorie recovery drink with loads of protein, fat, and carbs, that will energize and repair your body after a workout, or could be used as a meal replacement shake during the day.
